The product does re-program your vehicle's computer for better performance, but I could not see or feel a significant change afterwards. After some more research, I found another product that did a better job for less money. The Superchips Flashpaq has 5 different programming options including 4-wheel low, towing & 3 performance programs. I choose the 91 octane program which stated an increase of 15 horsepower & 24 ft/lbs of torque. The difference was like night & day. I can drive over the Rockies on the interstate without doing 50 in the right lane with the gas pedal on the floor. The Superchips product includes other benefits such as calibrating the speedometer for other tire sizes. HessOk, so I bought this for my: 2003 Chevy Silverado Ext. cab 5.3ltr, 4x4, quadrasteer, K&N cold air intake, Fitch Fuel catalyst, using all AMSOIL fluids. I've always averaged 14.8mpg/city and around 17.5mpg/hwy (I never speed, and didn't change my driving habits for this test). First hook up to the truck it said it needed to be updated with the internet. But the CD install program wouldn't work, kept giving an error. After calling Tech support I found out the program will only work with XP home & Vista home basic, not any higher editions or 64-bit.(this little tid-bit is not listed online or the box) So I had to use a friends older computer just to program it.I was really looking forward to this computer making the millage go up but unfortunately it went the opposite direction. I don't tow or have any kind of dyno to check the power gains but with the fuel economy drop I had, it still wouldn't have been worth it for me. Already had the Injen tuned intake installed, and this unit not only allows tweakage of top speed, rev limiter, and increases hp, but has been set up to work with this intake (and others). Cons- Had to install software on home computer to get internet updates onto the Hypertech device before I could reprogram my car(about 20 minutes work on top of time spent reprogramming car, which was about 5 minutes)Pros- Super easy and nearly idiot-proof to use. Seems well constructed, software update was easy, and had no problems at all with any part of the process. Car has been transformed from assertive to downright rude. Boost is more apparent, comes in at lower RPM, acceleration is snappier, especially at high RPM. With the limiter disabled for the low gears, it's way quicker off the line- just watch out for wheel spin. :) It isn't a HUGE improvement, but it is definitely an obvious one and easily worth the price. There is no "throw you back in your seat" kindda power but I did notice that it can hold highway speeds better when towing a load. What I mean by that is there is less down shifting when going up hill so more torque is what I can notice. I would buy again if I had to do over.
